It’s that time again, time to pound the cobblestones

We are off to Europe, more precisely, the north Mediterranean. This will not be a long trip, but long enough to get us through the incessant political ads flooding our lives at home.
First stop: Cameron and Shahida’s house for a stopover before heading to LAX. I know, that’s not Europe but they made us a great spaghetti dinner.

Our first real travel day started with the alarm at 3:30am. It ended 31 hours later with Terri in mid-sentence when my sweet snoring interrupted her. Granted, I can fall asleep most anywhere, anytime, a skill entirely lacking in Terri. I was able to get 5+ short naps in along the way. This skill that I’ve acquired, and practice with regularity, thoroughly frustrates Terri. It may be somewhat gender related as most of my male friends perform similarly, so I understand. But falling asleep 30 seconds after my head hitting the pillow with Terri in mid-sentence would bring knowing giggles the next morning.

In those 31 hours we took 3 flights, two busses and rented a car.
Major stops: Ventura-VanNuys-LAX-Montreal-Athens-Chania, Crete-Kissamos, Crete

Having checked into Hotel Aphrodite-I wanted 3 things, a beer, a swim in the Med and another beer. That mission accomplished, we headed down the beach in search of the life sustaining/prolonging Mediterranean food. Nothing beats a real Greek salad and souvlaki while sitting beachside at sunset in Crete, Greece.

  1. Cameron inherited your nap gene and I am with Terri on the frustrating envy of the father/son sleep ease. I agree with Justin— we want all the food pix!! So get wild with your orders, I want to see you both eating some fun stuff!
