Northern Italy and into Switzerland is a beautiful trip. It took us one metro and 5 different trains to reach Wengen but all were on time with easy transfers.
Wengen is just what you expect when going to a Swiss ski town. It’s located high on the mountain with dramatic views down the valley.

We arrived at our hotel, (our first hotel of the trip), at 1pm, two hours before check-in; we left our bags and went to explore Wengen. During lunch, our waitress suggested an easy trail to hike. It wasn’t “easy” by our terms. It was relatively short but it had a lot of vertical climb. The weather was clear all the way to the look-out where we were immediately enveloped in a dense fog.🥲🥺But it was beautiful hiking!
Our hotel had an indoor salt water pool that was really warm and very nice after a day of traveling and hiking. The locker room and bathroom were coed (a little weird for us😳). There were also two large frosted glass doors with “You Enter Nude Zone.” Thinking that it may be a rough translation, I went in. No, it’s pretty accurate. Sorry, no pictures.😱
Since first entering Switzerland we had seen many waterfalls, (Terri’s favorite thing to drag me to😔), and Terri found a spot near Wengen that offered 10 underground waterfalls(?). She had also found the route that we should take, or so she thought. My intuitive male instincts told me that we should take a detour and follow the river, mistake.

The river part was good but then we were dumped out on a tight two-lane road in a drizzly rain dressed all in black. Terri never refrained from reminding me how nice the other path was suppose to be. it was a long walk!
We made it to Trummelbach Falls without dying which thoroughly amazed Terri.

PS. We took Terri’s route home, yes – it was a nice wide path with lots of fresh cow pies🐄💩.
In a nutshell: Wengen and Switzerland are wonderful!

We had one night in Zurich before heading to Terri’s ancestral land. We completed a walking tour of Zurich, about 4 miles in all. It’s a pretty city with lots of churches, museums, galleries and restaurants.

Wow it looks like you guys are having a super time! Lots of different experiences. Glad you are seizing the moment in the fall, in my opinion the best time to travel! Continue enjoying this wonderful world we occupy! Thanks for posting! All is well here at Sylvan Ridge. 😉
