Copenhagen in the era of Covid

Copenhagen

Terri and I have decided to embark on a new excursion to Europe. The covid pandemic has greatly complicated international travel and our plans seem to be constantly in a state of flux but with flexibility and sense of humor, I think that we are going to make it.

First stop: Amsterdam! Well, that was the original plan…

Two weeks before our departure for Amsterdam, the Netherlands began requiring a 5 day quarantine even for fully vaccinated travelers, (we are).

We had to revamp our plans. Our original flight had a layover in Copenhagen. The easiest solution was to change our final destination from Amsterdam (AMS) to Copenhagen (CPH). And even though we were keeping our original flight to CPH, it only cost $120 to drop the AMS leg!?!🤪

We changed our Airbnb reservations as well. We cancelled the houseboat stay in AMS for a great little apartment offered by Anders in CPH. We had arranged with Anders to check-in about 8am but our flight on Scandinavian Airlines ( really good) arrived CPH almost 2 hours early.

I had to call and wake Anders before 7, but he was pleasant and got us into our new home base (up 5 flights of stairs – backpacks again a wise choice for us).

We arrived CPH at 6am local time, tired and jet lagged

Our goal for day 1 in CPH was to stay awake until 9pm local time in order to adjust to a Europe time schedule, meaning, we needed to stay awake for 30 hours straight. ugh.

We rested a bit in the apartment and then started our day at the local bike shop.

Biking in CPH is really easy, safe and fun way to get around. Here are a few pictures of our Day 1 in Copenhagen.
