Pompeii

Having known the tragic story of Pompeii, I was expecting to see a desolate lava type moonscape. What we found was a lush and vibrant city that stood in the shadow of Mount Vesuvius.

Naples was our first port of call and while many “cruisers” chose to tour Naples we chose Pompeii having never been there. This was our first shore excursion that we were required to do as a group, supposedly. As soon as we arrived in Pompeii, our guide asked us to meet him back near the bus in 4 hours……perfect! So much for remaining as a single group!
