Cruising the Mediterranean

After waking in our Airbnb to expressos and twinkies, we went walking the town and port of Civitavecchia.

We found a great little bay where there were a few people swimming and the water looked too inviting to pass up. But, with no swimsuits, we had to improvise. Fortunately, I was not wearing my bright fuschia colored underwear. My baby blues were hardly distinguishable from what many of the natives were wearing. The water was amazing with no wetsuit needed, a real treat for me.

After gathering our luggage we hopped an Uber to our home for the next 7 days, the cruise ship Epic.

We had to pass one more COVID test before we were allowed to board. That made 3 tests that we had each taken in the last 7 days!

Once aboard, first stop: Maltings Beer and Whiskey Bar. Note for self: may need to rethink unlimited drink package.😵‍💫. Need to reevaluate after a couple of days, maybe cancel it?

First cruise port: Napoli (Naples). Italy is being a bit weird and requiring all passengers to remain together in ports of call.😦 Not our choice but we will abide by their demands. We will visit Pompeii as part of the cruise excursion package.

The Epic is the one on the right🤗
The water slides. Terri loved the yellow one.
Dinner and a sunset!
One view from our cabin.

  1. Nice lookin boat! And you two do NOT look like ragtag backpackers! I do wish I had your whole itinerary (so I could be jealous in advance). Did you make it to Pompeii? Very interesting. And you’ve been to Lucca before, so it must be pretty cool. Could use about 100 more photos but understand that you are there to make memories not just selfies! Love you guys lots! Enjoy!!!!!!!!!!!

  2. So cool, but I am continually thinking, how did they get their stuff in those backpacks? High heels too? Wow, I am impressed😃. Looking forward to next posts.
