Kotor, Montenegro πŸ‡²πŸ‡ͺ

The drive to Montenegro was a short distance but was pretty slow as you have to pass through 3 customs/immigration stops and you have to drive around Kotor Bay through multiple small villages. The bay is stunningly beautiful with high mountains all around and it is almost glass smooth, the only ripples created by passing boats.

Kotor old town is surrounded by a protective fortress wall. The wall also encompasses a large part of the mountainside and was reported to offer great views of the town and bay. There was an 8€ admission fee that goes to the restoration and maintenance of the wall. Evidently they are saving most of the money for a big project as the wall was in need of some real maintenance. The lower part of the wall was signed “go at your own risk,” the upper part of the wall was a ” high risk zone” and other parts were “off limits” but looked pretty well travelled. 1350 stair steps, (Terri did not count them this time but relied on the literature) we reached the top to the great views, all worth the effort.

Besides the trek up the wall, Kotor was a relaxing three night Stop for us. We sat by the water and watched the boats, I swam in the bay everyday and we ate some great food – the stuffed squids πŸ¦‘ were the best!

Next Stop: Athens and then on the Mykonos Island 🌴 by ferry β›΄

The walled fortress, 1350 stair stairs to the top and I hope 1350 calories burned!
Part way up the walled fortress, they built a chapel.

Terri enjoys the sun and view bayside, I am in the water taking the pic🐬

This was a great restaurant just 100 meters up the bay
Stuffed squids, the best!
